Cain didn't hesitate. He shadow walked right in front of Lucifus, the cassul dug into Lucifus' chin."Read this:I'm gonna blow your damn head off if you lay hands on the kid."Cain though, pushed Lucifus away, grabbed Seyne and kicked off the ground, landing on the roof of the clanhold.Once they landed,Cain noticed Nexus, who was playing a violin."Violin playing sissy..."Cain thought and shadow walked himself and Seyne into the cafeteria, right by the bar. -Two bottles of Jack.-Cain said to the barman, then turned to Seyne.-Sit.You want to have a chat,I want whiskey.Do anything funny,I'll brake your neck though.
Trish and Ash cursed at the same time. -Who was he?-Ash asked Trish. -Lets go looking for Cain.I'll tell you on the way.
Once they entered the hospital again,Trish spoke: -For lack of better words,Seyne was sort of our student. -That's impossible without causing a rift in space and time continuum.Seriously,Cain as a teacher? -And a pretty good one, actually. -Riiiight,good one.-Ash laughed.-Now really.Who is he? -Your balls on a plate.-Trish answered irritated. -I've got a good looking pair of balls,then.-Ash laughed. An awkward moment of silence came.Trish looked at Ash with a raised eyebrow. -Are you gay? -Why does everyone keep saying that?! -Because it certainly looks like it.-Trish grinned.-But seriously,he was our student. One day he simply left a note, saying he's off to the White Moon and we never saw him again. That's why we reacted so. -You mean, wanting to shoot your former student-friend-whatever?Awesome teachers.-Ash said sarcastically. -Yeah,well,we're not really tutor material, but we did the job.Anyway, first guess:the bar? -I give a 70% chance for that. -The bar it is.-Trish said.

The demon's threat angered Seyne even more than it scared him. Interrogation he could accept, but who did this guy think he was to violate others like that? Luckily for Seyne, it looked like Cain didn't think much of the demon's methods either. Next thing he knew they'd left the demon and all the others way below them. His white wings automatically emerged.
They were on the roof, but not for long. Cain kept a tight grip on him as the scene changed again, this time to a big and crowded hall that Seyne soon realised must be the cafeteria in this place. Suddenly getting a little delayed vertigo, he sat down at the bar as Cain ordered. "Sit. You want to have a chat, I want whiskey. Do anything funny, I'll brake your neck though." "Good thing comedy isn't my forte, then." Seyne replied with a detached smile. He watched Cain down most of his drink. "You sure haven't changed." He took a moment to glance around the place, catching some curious and suspicious looks from the residents. "They gonna give my weapons back?" he asked, still looking around. "I kinda need those."
From where he sat, he noticed Trish and a guy he didn't recognise come in together and head for him and Cain. He raised a hand in greeting. "Hey." It came out a little timidly; Trish wasn't looking too impressed and if there was one thing he'd learned in his short life as a vampire, it was not to piss off Trish.

-Weapons?-Cain asked sarcastically. Then he gulped down what was left in the bottle and put it in front of Seyne. -Here's your weapon for now. You've got the benefit of the doubt, not full trust, kido. Trish sat to the left of Seyne, while Ash to the right of Cain. -And if you want answers, you gotta give us a REAL explanation for why you're here.-Trish said with annoyance in her voice. She also put her hand on the table, clenching the pistol, giving a clear message for 'no bulls**t'.

"There something wrong with the explanation you got?" he sighed irritably. "Well, believe it or not, I'm here for my own, selfish reasons. Like I said. I'm not spying for any clan, I'm not trying to harm anyone. Do you seriously think I'd just waltz up to this place if I was? You've got to be pretty damn brave or pretty damn stupid to pull a stunt like that, and I don't fit either description that well." his annoyance subsiding, he gazed at the empty bottle in front of him. "That's the truth. If you want to hear something more interesting, I'll happily make up some elaborate lie for you. Otherwise, I'm asking you to accept this."
The two of you gave me a new life and taught me how to live it... and yet you think I'm ungrateful enough to betray you. That hurts, a bit. To look at them, Cain and Trish hadn't changed a bit since Seyne had seen them last. Maybe Cain had a few more scars. But something was different alright. The way they were talking, it was like none of them owed each other anything, not trust, not a little bit of loyalty. It was as if he'd betrayed them already.

Ash laughed. -Not my call, but if Cain and Trish REALLY trained you,the "pretty damn brave or pretty damn stupid" is the most realistic scenario. Trish holstered her gun and took a deep breath. She relaxed a bit. -Hmph...If you think you owe us,you're not here from the White Moon, yeah. But seven moths are way more than enough for someone to rearrange their priorities, too. Cain didn't really react in any way.He just lit a cigarette, realising that he didn't have a smoke for some time now.He smiled for a split second before exhaling a big cloud of smoke. Then he grabbed the second bottle, opened it up and took a few gulps, trying to enjoy the drink.A heavy body thumped on a chair left of Trish. -Took ya' long enough.-Cain said, taking another sip from the bottle. Trish and Ash looked at who the person was. -I was a few steps away from a coma after you beat me to a pulp,Cain. So,you know,I'm a bit slow on my feet now.-Caleb said in a strangely friendly voice, given the situation. Then he noticed Seyne.-Who's the new guy? -Believe it or not,Seyne is Cain's and Trish's former student.-Ash explained. Caleb coughed and wiped a few drops of blood from his teeth with his left thumb. -One of the signs of the Apocalypse,I presume?-He said smirking.-So,why you're here,Seyne? -Apparently,just a chat at the moment.-Trish said.-Anyway,you wanted answers.Ask away,I guess.-Trish said. Cain just grunted, took another sip from the bottle and exhaled another cloud of smoke.

Nexus shook his head, thinking of how strange that was. Seeing Cain and some guy appear on the rooftops and then disappear into nothing. "That is just plain WEIRD." he thought and looked down. For some reason he wasn't surprised to see Lucifus and decided to find out what was going on. - What just happened? - Nexus asked, gliding down in front of Lucifus. - What else? Some guy from the clans finds us by sheer luck, claims he's Cain's friend and Cain, by the looks of it, really is his friend... - Lucifus said and turned to the guards that were walking away. For his surprise, one of them didn't leave, the young half-breed stood there and looked at Lucifus with bright eyes. "Damn, he's too young..."Lucifus thought and walked to him - I thought I told you all to resume your posts... Is there something wrong? - Lucifus asked as politely and superior as possible. - Why is he so special? - he asked, in his eyes was hatred. He looked merely thirteen. And it seemed he was. - He is not special, the sword is... His actions won't go unpunished; Amelia will make sure he gets what he deserves. - Nexus said, smiling to the teen. - As if she could take him... He's invincible! - the boy said, in his eyes were sparkles of sheer idealization mixed with fear and hate. - Who the hell told you that? – Lucifus asked with anger in his voice. - I heard my mum say it. She and her friends all thought of taking him on after Jack died, but they didn’t. They’re too scared. But I’m not. I don’t care if I die. Lucifus sighed and Nexus felt kind of close to the boy. They both lived on because they wanted revenge. Hey, I will be taking you to the cafeteria, kid. You obviously need something to lighten up. – Nexus said and put a hand on the boys shoulder. – Come on. – he said and the boy frowned, feeling unsafe with someone around he doesn’t know, but agreed and walked with Nexus to the cafeteria. Lucifus sighed again ”At times like these I really regret leaving the Golds…” he thought and appeared in Amelia’s office. She was apparently happy because of something Don’t bother to ask, I’ll just transfer my memories… I’m tired of talking. – Lucifus said and opened his mind. - Ok, I know you want to ask what happened… Well, Xylos is locked away again. This time because of his injuries… That son of a b***h wanted to run away, help some vampire build a superior unnatural and hoped it would be him and not some noble purebred ancient demon… Well, I think I knocked some sense into him. Literally… I want to see Cain though… - she said and pushed a button on her phone – Find and get Cain Rockfall into my office. I don’t care when, I just want him here tonight…
Nexus and the boy who’s name was Jimmy (Nexus asked him on the way) walked into the cafeteria and the first thing Nexus noticed was the boy going even more pale than he was. The first thing to do is to start observing… Right now you have to concentrate on your feelings and relax… - Nexus said, guiding the boy to the farthest corner of the room so that he wouldn’t see Cain. What do you want from me? – the boy asked when they sat down. I don’t want anything from you really… You see, I have this urge to teach people and I know how you feel, believe me… - Nexus started and was interrupted by the boy standing up You don’t know anything… - the boy said, already making a step further from the table, but Nexus grabbed him by the hand and made him sit back to his place. I know even more than you would ever think I do. My father and friends were killed by one person. One demon that I want to destroy or at least make him suffer before I die. – Nexus hissed. The boy relaxed and looked shocked. That’s better… Now I want to hear your story. What did Cain do to you? – Nexus asked. Well… My friend Gregory… We grew up together and all, our parents were friends. And Jack was like a father to us, because both our fathers died when we were ten… Well, after Jack died… I don’t know how that happened, but Gregory ran out into the daylight several hours after his death. He didn’t die from the sunlight, we were both turned at our fourth birthday and the grownups were able to get him out just in time to save his life... But he got sick. He got the light disease. Now any light that touches his skin burns him. He can’t see in his little dark room, he’s not a darkness demon and I don’t know what to do. And you decided to kill Cain? That won’t help your friend for sure… Right now I would propose a search for the cure. No death will make your friend better. But it will! I heard my mother say that the sword could probably cure Greg and maybe even bring Jack back to life. And we would all be better off with someone else wielding the sword! – he started to half-shout, some people turned to them. Keep it down, boy… I will make this clear to you; the sword makes Cain almost invincible. It helps him regenerate faster, move faster, gives him more strength and has the ability to make any wound as fatal as it would be for a human. It bares many myths, but none of them are of healing or resurrection. Nobody is sure of what bond connects the sword to it’s wielder, but I saw the sword melt into Cain’s skin and that’s something a normal sword would never do… - Nexus saw the boy’s eyes fill with rage and helplessness. Nexus smiled mischievously – You have to know your enemy better than you know yourself. You have to have the enemy closest to you, but never turn your back on him. You have to strike at his most happy hour and then make him suffer like you did, because death may be a blessing to those that suffer. The boy looked at him with round eyes full of surprise, realization and warmth. Jimmy! Oh my god, I was so worried… - Nexus saw a woman rapidly approaching them and then hugging her son. Well, I’m leaving then. Miss. – Nexus said standing up and disappeared into nothingness.
- Hello, mister chaos... - Amelia said, looking up from her papers - you just made a thousand dollar damage to the clan, congratulations... Although you still didn't beat your personal record - fifty thousand for the portal generator. I am in a good mood and right now and I propose you work for your expenses. In a sense, I am your leader, Cain. That's why I'm assigning you to a search group. Or should I say, I'm assigning the search group to you. It will include you, Caleb, Ash and two people you never met. You will do as you please, as you will be a search group for anything you will find in your way, because I’m certain you are the best search person there is, trouble just sticks to you. Jack, Damien, come in here.
Two youngsters came into the room. From the looks of it - both at least 20, but one of them was surely turned less than a month ago.
One of them walked forth. Jack Walters, 21 years old, half dragon demon, half blood vampire, best at computers and technical devices. - the boy said calmly. He looked about 184 cm tall, short spiky golden hair, navy eyes, square face, well-built, but a bit thin. Suddenly he started to change from his human appearance and two fiery wings spread out of his back, his eyes turned to a fiery color, a long tail curved behind his back, three pairs of black horns appeared on his head. - Damn... I'm sorry for the change. - he said, in his eyes was seen fear of being rejected to this team, especially when he caught Cain's glance. The other one seemed to be uninterested in what was happening around him too much, he just blankly stared at Cain with his yellow eyes from below his thick black eyebrows while leaning to the wall. A few moments passed and the skinny black-haired and triangular-faced vampire finally moved. - I know you from earlier... - he said so silently, that you could hear it only with your ear a few centimeters from his mouth. Then he sighed and stepped forth, as if it was the most troublesome thing in the world to do. - Damien Summers, 24 years old artificial vampire made from the first vampires blood. Undead for 6 months. Heightened senses, super stealth, almost full invisibility. Was meant to be a super spy at SerCo, but ran off, blah blah blah... Are you Staff Sergeant Rockfall by any chance? - he asked - I saw you being assigned to that mission where supposedly everyone died. - his eyes then met Cain's. - Well, they're not that kind of dead.

“This is ridiculous. Does he think we actually need to explain ourselves?” The thought popped into Cain's head, making him even more irritated. His attention was soon caught by someone throwing claims of taking someone on. Cain noticed the kid was talking to Nexus. Cain and Nexus exchanged glimpses with each other and Cain realized what the kid and Nexus were talking about. Cain lowered his head, looking at the bottle. He bit the inside of his lower lip a few times and took a few big gulps of whiskey. Someone tapped him on the shoulder. -You Cain?-A man asked. -What if I am?-Cain said with obvious frustration. -Amelia wants you in her office. Now.-He explained. -She WANTS me in her office? Go tell her to stick her head up the devil's ass. We're in a conversation here. -I really don't care what your problem is,pal.-The man said coldly.-I have my orders, which I always obey. The reason why she called for you seems urgent. With those words, the man walked away. Cain sighed. In a sense, he was re-leaved. Talking with Seyne now was the least interesting thing to him. Cain stood up with the bottle in his hand, walked to Caleb and put the bottle in front of him. -You need this more. Enjoy. I'm going to talk with Amelia. He continued walking towards the stairs, but after a few steps,he stopped. -Be by Amelia's office doors in 15minutes. It's obvious there will be a bunch of crap we'll need to talk about. Cain merged with the shadows, appearing in Amelia's office.

Cain smirked. -No s**t,Sherlock.-He then turned to Amelia.-I'm actually surprised you're not trying to sink your ugly feminist claws deeper. Cain rubbed his eyes, crossed his hands and sighed. -So you're assigning me a geek who actually thinks a dragon and vampire mix is cool and Captain Obvious here with apparent brain damage due to backfiring social skills? -You ever heard of a thing called 'modesty'?-Amelia commented sarcastically. -You ever heard of 'Common Sense'?-Cain said frowning.-Do you actually believe it's not obvious that these butt-leeches will be reporting my every step to you? Cain grabbed something in the air and squeezed it. A gurgling sound started coming from just a few centimetres above Cain's hand. Then Damien became visible. Cain was clutching Damien's throat so hard, the guy started to turn blue. -Okay,Amelia. You got my interest. But I'm doing things my way and these s**t-heads will listen to my every word and no ass-kissing reports to you. Damien was trying to grasp Cain's arm, but due to lack of oxygen his body was listening to him less and less. Amelia jumped from her seat. -You're going to kill him! Cain looked Damien straight in the eyes, piercing through the chaos in the guy's thoughts. Cain laughed and let Damien go, who dell on his four, gasping. -So I made that scar on your throat?-Cain asked rhetorically.-Seems you didn't learn from that. Cain then turned to Jack, who would've gotten goose-bumps if his skin wouldn't have been amphibian. Cain walked to him and patted him on the shoulder. -First rule, kids. Don't screw around. Earn the trust and respect. - With those words,Cain continued towards the door.- Oh,by the way Amelia, if they mess things up, you'll get them back in body bags. Probably dismembered, too.
Just outside the doors,Caleb,Ash,Trish and Seyne were already waiting. -Nice.- Ash commented with a smirk on his face. -Those two will probably be wetting their beds for the next few months because of you.-Caleb said.-Poor guys. -Stupid guys.-Cain corrected him. -Why did she exclude me from the group?-Trish asked with irritation. -SHE did,not me.-Cain answered.-Lets go back to the bar.
All the way Caleb kept talking to Seyne, giving him the basic information about the clanholds inner distribution. Ash couldn't help but constantly throw in witty remarks into their conversation. Cain and Trish didn't really talk much. Once they were sitting the same way as before the conversation with Amelia, Cain leaned over a pint of dark beer he order and spoke: -Okay,this is the way we'll do things. Me,Ash and Caleb will dance by the tune. We'll teach those two guys to wipe their asses by themselves.-Cain then turned to Trish and Seyne.- You two will work together separately from us. Gather any and all info about this clanhold, it's operatives in Arakesh or anywhere else, about the other 'Moons, anything that's useful. Cain kept silent for a few seconds. -Trish,you know the plan if things go wrong. -You still don't trust him. -I'm being careful.-Cain said and turned to Seyne.-Now listen here, kido. Remember what I told you after our first training session?I told you that trust,as anything else, has to be earned. Cain sighed. -S**t. I haven't talked this much for way too long. The same man that told Cain to go to Amelia's office came to them again. The man was bearing a gun and a sword, who he put in front of Cain. -These are your friend's weapons. His room will be just after Ash's. Caleb, you've been moved to the same room. Caleb simply nodded and said: -Sure. The man then went away. -I swear to God,that guy is starting to creep me out.-Ash said. Caleb lifted his pint. -I say we toast to Seyne. Welcome to the crazy bunch! -Crazy bunch?-Trish asked with a grin, also lifting her pint. -Yeah. What's wrong with that?-He asked. -No way we're calling ourselves like that.-She answered. Cain coughed, pushed the weapons to Seyne and looked him in the eyes. Through that contact, Cain pushed himself into Seyne's thoughts.”Earn the trust.”Cain repeated. This time those words were only in Seyne's and Cain's minds. Ash lifted his pint, followed by Cain's.

Seyne took a liking to both Ash and Caleb, which was a good start. He didn't particularly show it; that wasn't his nature. In many ways he was still the same withdrawn teenager he'd been before all this had started. Even so, he was relaxing for the first time that day as they headed back to the bar.
-Now listen here, kido. Remember what I told you after our first training session? I told you that trust, as anything else, has to be earned. -Yeah. I remember.- It was something he still hadn't quite got used to, knowing that the ones he called friends were prepared to shoot him to pieces if the situation called for it. But, in a weird kind of way, it showed they cared. It takes a lot to kill someone you've known. -I say we toast to Seyne. Welcome to the crazy bunch! -Crazy bunch? -Yeah. What's wrong with that? -No way we're calling ourselves like that. He was distracted from them as Cain returned his weapons to him, looking Seyne squarely in the eyes as he did so. Earn the trust. Seyne just nodded, breaking the eye contact quite quickly. He still resented being so distrusted by them, of all people, but he was accepting now that that was just the way things were going to be for a while. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing anyway. The others had all raised their glasses by now and Seyne followed suit. -Thanks for the welcome, guys. Looking forward to working with you.- he smiled amiably, his gaze shifting between them. -'Crazy bunch' sounds like fun.- There was something he'd wanted to ask... what was it? Oh, yeah. -Who's this Amelia? Must reckon she's something if she thinks she can order you around, Cain.

-And Seyne wins the most inappropriate question of the day award!-Ash exclaimed. Caleb,Trish and Ash followed those words with a laugh. -She's useful. That's all she is.-Cain answered. -She's also the head of this place.-Trish added.-That basically means that we're working for her. -AVOIDING needles problems would be the correct expression.-Cain said. Ash smirked. -Ah,yes.The free spirit, never subjecting to anyone.-He then commented sarcastically. -Yeah,yeah.-Cain shrugged Ash's words off.-Aw,crap. Cain grabbed hold of his head and jumped off the chair. -F**k,s**t,crap,f**k,damn it,crap!-He started cursing. Blood started flowing like a river from his nostrils. -F**K!-He cursed once more. -The hell's wrong?!-Trish exclaimed. -Just get me some f**king sedatives, before my heart explodes! -Crap!-Caleb cursed, jumping off the chair too. He grabbed Cain and shadow walked to the words. -Sedate him.NOW!-Caleb shouted.
-Christ.The pills,remember?-Ash asked Trish rhetorically.-He gulped at least 1/3 of the bottle in the last 24 hours. His heart must be beating like he's on an elephant-sized dosage of speed. -Damn it.Lets go to the wards.
Trish,Ash and Seyne ran in the ward were Cain lay sedated. -How's he?-Trish asked. -For a few minutes his heart beat was close to normal. But it's spiking again.NURSE!-Caleb shouted. A girl ran in. -What's wrong?-The nursed asked. -He's heart beat is going up again.Be ready for another dose of sedatives. -F**k this!Do you have any animal tranquillizers?-Ash said, stepping towards the nurse. -What? -You heard. He took way too many green pills. The heart carries the sedatives too fast.We need something stronger, fast! -S-sorry.We don't. -Oh,screw this!-Trish shouted, upholstering her gun. A moment later a bullet pierced Cain's heart. The nurse jumped aback, unable to say anything. -Those pills speed up the metabolism.Means the heart gets the most stress.I don't want his heart to explode,so disabling it is a better solution.-Trish explained. Ash grabbed the blanket, folded it and pressed the wound. He didn't say anything for a few seconds. Then muttered. -I'm glad Cain's not the only one who can make such calls in a blink of an eye.Now bring something to get the bullet out!
For a few minutes Cain's heart was close to a full stop. The wound had already closed up.Trish kept her eyes fixed on Cain, biting her lower lip constantly.Suddenly,Cain jumped into a sitting position, breathing in the precious oxygen.Trish ran up to him. -Cain!-She shouted, putting her hands on Cain's shoulders. Cain slid his hand over the little mark left from the bullet. -Good call.-He only said, looking Trish the eyes and smirked. -I'm gonna get some coffee or something.-Caleb said, smiled and walked out. Ash chuckled slightly and turned to Seyne. -That's everyday bulls**t for ya'.Still sure you wanna stick around?-Ash asked. But his smile showed, that he didn't really mean it as a serious question.

-Christ...- Seyne sank into a chair at the edge of the bright room. Never mind Cain, it would take his own heart rate a minute or two to settle down. -This is why I never took drugs when I was younger.- But it seemed like everything was fine. Ash was smiling, Cain was smiling, Caleb had gone out for a coffee. A freaking coffee. Crisis averted, I guess. He glanced down at his shadow, frowning slightly as he saw it was almost pitch black, much darker than the other shadows in the room. It always got like that when his power got close to surfacing. Must be this stress... he thought to himself. -That's everyday bulls**t for ya'. Still sure you wanna stick around? Wasn't sure from the start. He half-smiled, not looking up. -Might as well; this place seems to be where the party's at.- Even if it's one f**ked up party.
The doctors couldn't find anything wrong with Cain, and were left with no choice but to discharge him immediately. It was as they were leaving that the thirst hit Seyne, and not that kind that's solved by water. Would the security here let him out to hunt? He doubted it, wishing he'd thought of that before. He hated the blood in cafeterias. He cut his tongue on one of his fangs; the taste of his own blood would stave off the need to drink for a while.
Most of the seats at the bar were taken when they got back so they took a table in the main part of the cafeteria. Seyne reluctantly got some blood, knowing he'd have to have it sooner or later. As he returned to the table, he could feel eyes on him. He ignored it for a few minutes, but the hostility of that gaze became increasingly annoying. He looked up. A halfbreed girl of about twenty-five with short, spiky brown hair was glaring at him from across the room, cat-like eyes narrowed. You better get your purebred ass out of here, vampire. Seyne downed the rest of the cold blood, trying not to taste it. Make me. He looked coldly back at her, not about to be stared down.

Even when they took their seats,Cain felt slightly uncomfortable. It's like the heart wasn't pumping the blood fast enough. He noticed Seyne exchanging looks with some girl and smirked.A slight urge of expanding it came over, but he ignored that. -Caleb,could you get us something to chew on?-Trish asked. -Yeah,sure.Should I order ANOTHER round of drinks? -Ye-...-Cain started. -NO.-Trish decided to step up. -YES.-Cain countered. They looked each other straight in the eyes. The annoyance was clear as black on white. -Would you two knock it off? You'll make my coffee boil.-Ash said, taking a sip from the cup of the mentioned coffee. -I'll just order a whiskey-blood mix and a plate of fried meat chunks.-Caleb said, obviously reluctant to listen to the upcoming argument between Trish and Cain. He managed to take a few steps before sighing without stopping moving towards the bartender. The argument did start. -I just put a bullet in your heart.Even if I had to this time,I'll to did just for the pleasure of it again.Your heart was a few steps from exploding and you're just going to down it with a bottle.-Trish said. -Yes.Yes,I will. And enjoy every second of it.-Cain said without any annoyance in his voice. Trish kept silent for a few seconds before saying with the same unannoyed tone as Cain: -You know what?To hell with it.I've been putting up with this s**t for the past two years,so I might as well accept and ignore it.It's almost impossible for us to get s**t-faced or be impacted in any way in our judgements,so there's no reason to get angry. -Good girl. -Drunkard. The piercing stares the girl was throwing and Seyne started to piss off Cain.Ash noticed that, unsheathed his combat knife and stabbed it in the table. The girl seemed effected by that, but it wasn't clear how.Honestly, none of them really cared with the possible exception of Seyne. That was mostly due to Jack and Damien coming up to them. -We've got an assignment.-Damien said. Jack put a file in front of Cain. -H-here you go,Sir.-Jack said. Ash and Trish coughed in mocking manner.Cain looked at Jack. -Cut the formal crap.I'm only making final decisions that'll matter to those who'll listen.Otherwise, you two are pulling your own asses, unless you prove your worth. Cain then grabbed the file."Blah,blah,blah...Meet contacts in Arakesh's southern docks, hangar no.314.Clans caught onto their activity. The Clans are sending a force made off of a few White Moon and Bronze Moon squads.Make sure our contacts and what they're carrying are moved quickly and without the Clans' forces knowing it.Blah,blah,blah..."Caleb came back. -What's this?-He asked. -Seems our merry band has work to do.-Ash answered smirking. -One that stirs up questions,too.-Trish added. -Okay,forget the plan we discussed before. Some of us will go on a S.A.D.,while others won't.-Cain said. -W-wait.-Jack pushed the word out.-I-it's not what the file says. -Yes,it's not. It's what I say.Don't like it,then piss off.Get ready everyone,we're moving out immediately. Cain downed his drink,a mouthful of meat chunks from the plate, reloaded his gun, span the barrel, put his left hand on Ash's shoulder, his right on Trish's and smacked on Seyne's toes with the boots heel. -There's no rest for the wicked.-Cain said smirking.-Meet you guys at the top of 'The Hole'. He immediately merged with the shadows. They appeared by a table on the rooftop of a bar.The chairs were arranged the same way they were back in the clanhold's cafeteria. Ash laughed. -Nice.I thought we would fall on our butts once we stopped. -You think they'll know about this bar?-Trish asked. -Caleb will.I saw him here often enough before the big s**t hit the fan.-Cain answered and stood up.-They have the file,we've got the hunt.Sniff the air guys, the beasts are moving. Then he turned to Seyne. -The same ones you were with,Seyne.-Cain said with a slight smile in his face. Cain obviously enjoyed the thought that they might encounter someone Seyne knows and what the reactions might be.

Seyne
She backed off, metaphorically, when Ash's knife stabbed into the table. That was a clear enough threat. Crazy b***h...
There was something more important at hand anyway. The two guys from Amelia's office had arrived, and they'd brought a mission with them. He wasn't really listening until the phrase "White Moon" caught his attention. As Cain transported to God-knows-where, Seyne took a moment to wonder what he'd gotten himself into. The size of these "forces" wasn't specified, but the chances of no-one from the clan recognising him were... well, slim at best. And it wasn't like they'd send rookies into a situation like this either. Hell, Zach could be there for all we know. Jesus... They appeared on a rooftop, set out with tables and chairs like it was a cafe or something.
-Sniff the air guys, the beasts are moving... The same ones you were with, Seyne. Cain seemed to find this pretty amusing. -Don't underestimate them. They might preach a lot of crap in the clans but they teach you to fight. And White is the best.- His tone was deadly serious, his expression impassive. He got up and walked slowly to the roof's edge, then turned to face Cain and the others, leaning back against the railings. -I'm not sure what you're expecting, but if you expect me to go out there and let any friend of mine, whatever side they're on, get killed, then you can go to Hell. Sure I never fought for White. I don't mean to fight for Seventh Moon either. Damn clan wars are nothing to do with me.
Mikhail
-Nervous? -Yeah... lil' bit.- Mikhail nodded with a small smile. -Ah, you'll be fine. Don't blame you though. Nearly made myself sick from worrying first time I went out. Mikhail just nodded again, the smile becoming more forced. -Hey.- the older vampire put a hand on his shoulder, looking Mikhail in the eyes. -I'm serious. You'll be fine. Just do what you're told, and no heroics. Easy. Right? -...Yes sir.

Daray Lucifus
Amelia growled from irritation when Cain left. - Did you f***ing see that?! That motherf***ing bastard.... UUUUGH! - she started, then sighed and sat down. - You saw all of it, didn't you? - she suddenly asked. Lucifus appeared out of the wall smiling. - Of course I did. I couldn't miss such a scene. Especially with Damien around. Damien by that time already stood up, the bruises on his neck disappeared and he was leaning to the table with the same uninterested expression in his eyes. - Why the hell did you do that?- Amelia asked turning to him. - Did what? Tried to sneak out before he claws me to death? That was obviously his intention and I obviously wanted to check him out. - he said still with the same uninterested expression and tone. - You wanted to check HIM out? For what purpose? - Amelia asked, looking at him with interest. - I have a fifth regeneration level. Rip out my heart and I will have a new one in two minutes. The only way to really kill me is to take out my spine and my brain precisely with no braincell still in my body in three minutes. I wanted to see what damage the sword could do me, but he didn't reserve to that... I was kind of disappointed, I thought that he's the true monster everyone was talking about. - Damien said, a little sad smile appearing on his face. Amelia shook her head - Why the hell would you need to know what damage the sword would do you? - Oh, this is the good part... - Lucifus interrupted - He can't die, so he wants to make sure something in this world can kill him. You see, while still alive, he never feared death. And now, he fears he wouldn't be able to die at all. - That's right. I can serve as a live bait in missions, but I rather not tell that to Cain, because he obviously would get rid of me. - Damien said his expression changing back to normal - the uninterested in anything one. - Excuse me, sir. - Jack approached Lucifus - I didn't hear the real reason I'm in this group. - Jack, you're a proper soldier that will follow his chiefs commands even if you will think they're inappropriate. You don't fear Cain, do you? - Lucifus asked. - Honor, respect and trust are only earned with actions. - Jack replied. Lucifus smiled - Don't fear of being resigned, you were chosen because you think like that and because Cain thinks alike. And also, because Daray refused to work with Cain. - Speaking of him... - Amelia stood up - I should really go check if he found anything... - The door flew open and Daray stormed in - else... Fine, show me. - I found diary pages. They indicate a child... - Daray started and then looked around - I think I will just leave the papers here and it will be clear - he said, turned around and walked out, closing the door with his transparent hands. Amelia glanced at the papers and looked up. - I am sending you on a mission. I will give you the papers and you will show them to Cain. It is obvious that he won't listen to me and take all of his friends with him, but it's very important that he would leave his girlfriend and that new guy out. As out as it is possible. - The young vampire has a very bad thought control and if there is someone stronger, they will most probably read his mind and show them our location - Lucifus continued - The girl is what Cain fights for and if we are right and there will be a girl wielding the First's scythe, she, as any other vampire, may turn against her friends. Damien smiled, nodded and walked out. Jack took the papers and went after Damien.
- Well, now I need to look through this... Lu, you're a natural leader, I don't get why you don't want it. - Amelia started, looking up at him Lucifus smiled and already put his hand through the wall - I just don't like being bothered too much... And we have info on the girl with the scythe. She's very, very young and too unstable even for the clan. I have no idea what were they thinking, sending her to the field in that condition...
Lilian
Lilian was wielding the scythe for three days now. She was unnatural even for the unnaturals. Her speed, her regeneration and her silence was creepy for the ones around her. Radu was gone and she had nobody to rely to and now they sent her on the field. Her thoughts were mixed up with those of the First, she didn't sleep and she couldn't feel the thirst until it was too late. Right now she felt calmed down. Everything seemed unreal, like a dream. Her own mind drifted away and constantly blacked out, leaving holes in time. Now it seemed to calm down a bit and all she wanted was to lay down and finally sleep, but they sent her on the field. - Stupid, stupid little creatures... - she muttered. Her mind was fuzzy and she laughed.
There were three of them on the rooftop. Her and two other vampires. They both glanced at her with fear and a kind of disgust you have for those who are different. - Stupid, stupid little creatures... - she muttered again and turned her blank gaze at her feet again.

-You gotta be s**tting us...-Trish grumbled. Cain laughed. -You can't be THAT naive, can you?-He said to Seyne, while stretching a hand towards Ash.-Give me your knife,Ash. -Why? -Precautions. Ash handed the knife to Cain, who stabbed it into his right palm, but didn't pull out.Cain walked to Seyne and slid two fingers on the side of the blade. -No matter what you decide, this concerns you as much as any of us.I suggest you decide on who you'll side with, even if it'll be just out of convenience.Otherwise, you'll be branded a traitor.Trust me,I know how much that sucks. Now,don't move. Cain slid the bloodied fingers through Seyne's forehead, making two bloody lines, each aligned with an eye.To the right one Cain added two lines forking from the line's centre. -Uh,rune signs?Didn't think you employed those.-Trish said. Cain murmured a few incantation words. -This will burn a little. The two singes lit up,immediately burning into the skin, leaving scars. -They'll heal up and disappear. They'll protect you from mediocre enemies reading your thoughts.-Cain explained.-Most present company still exclude, though. With that said,Cain pulled the knife out and threw it at Ash,who managed to catch it,though close enough for the blood to splatter onto his face.Ash grunted. -Thanks a bunch.-He said sarcastically. Caleb appeared with Damien and Jack. They were armed to the teeth.Enough to supply all seven of them for about a 30minute shoot out. -Took your damn time,I see. What have you got in the bags?-Trish asked. -Fireworks.-Caleb answered as casual as you could get. -"Fireworks",as in..?-Ash expressed his interest. -As in a few belts of carefully packed grenades, two packs of C4 and three shells for this RPG.-Caleb explained, gestured the RPG on his shoulder and put the bags on the table. -You do realise you're defying direct orders.-Jack stated.-We only have to get those contacts to safety. -You do realise we don't give a crap?-Cain said with obvious annoyance.-BUT.You two WILL obey them. And Seyne's going to accompany you there. -Huh?Why?-Caleb asked. -Because he's tied to the rail-road tracks and the train isn't stopping.-Cain explained. -Oh.-Caleb only murmured. -Suck it up,princess,'cause this is how we roll.-Trish said. Cain aimed his gun and shot. The bullet ran through a vampires chest, who was observing them from another roof. -That one was obviously not hiding. For a scout,he sucks.-Caleb said. -White Moon's a fighter, but not a soldier clan.-Cain said. -How much do we know about their tactics?-Ash asked. -Well,they'll stay away from the streets, for starters.-Trish said. -Also,they won't send Bronze Mooners as scouts, because someone needs to keep an eye on their pets.-Caleb added. Cain merged with the shadows, emerging besides the shot vampire and ran him through with his sword, then re-emerged back, leaving a crumbling body behind. -We've got their attention. While they'll be looking for the dead guy,we'll pick their scouts one by one as quick as possible. This will give them enough pause for the three of you to get the contacts to safety. If not,we track one squad down and set off one of the charges off to attract the attention of the authorities.-Cain started weaving up a plan. -SET OFF THE CHARGES?-Jack exclaimed. -Relax.We won't touch innocents.-Trish said. -Right.One charge for one squad,I gather?-Ash asked. -Yup.If THAT won't stop them,then,well...Will face them head on.-Cain ended his plan.-Any suggestions? -Yeah,one:How about NOT do that and get our people out?-Jack said. -What are you still doing here?-Trish asked rhetorically.-MOVE! -Seyne,you decide now. You're coming with us or with them?-Caleb asked.

Lilian
Lilian turned her gaze towards the sky and closed her eyes. Everything disappeared into a whirlwind of sounds and scents. It was so mixed up that her stomach started to spin a little, but then she caught a familiar scent of a half-breed. - They're here. - she said and stood up, looking at the two with her. Her gaze and stance was somewhat of a half-conscious human being, she even leaned on the scythe, but the two saw her kill and the didn't want to stand in her way. - They're here. - she repeated and started slowly walking to the end of the roof, looking down to the street where a lonely human was walking home. She stopped still looking down and for a few moments she didn't move. The awkward silence was interrupted by a gunshot from further away. The both vampires suddenly stopped looking at the young vampiress and turned their gazes and attention to that side. - Lili, do you scent anything? - one of them asked and turned around, she wasn't there. - I could swear I heard her say "They're here" but I'm not sure... - the other said, sniffing the air - I don't scent anything yet. He's to far away to tell... I think I'll go check it out. - Yeah, sure... I'm more concerned of where that little monster ran of to...
Lili stood on a streetlight and looked at a moving shadow across her. Her face saddened and she jumped down, heading towards the shadow. It was a lycan. There was no trail of his scent, so he must have traveled through the Abysm. - Poor, poor little wolf... - she said and put her hand on the beasts head. It didn't move, watching her with hungry eyes. - I know what they did to you. I know they lied. - Lilian said and stroked the wolfs muzzle. It was rough and covered in dry blood. For some reason, the wolf lay down and let himself be caressed, as if his thirst and hunger had calmed down. Lilian smiled for the first time in days and with her scythe on her back and the giant wolf laying beside her, she waited. She knew that one the half-bloods will pass through here. She didn't know who, but she somehow felt that they will have answers that Radu had before leaving.
Anum Ger
- Father, I heard that sir Ger will be here soon, should I start the preparations for his visit? - A cute ice-demoness asked Anum with a smile on her face. In fact, all the family smiled, even himself, though there was nothing to smile about after the news about the scythe. - No, no preparations, I will deal with him myself. You all were true to your nobility and your family till these days, but it is all about to fall apart and you know who we owe that to... - the smiles disappeared from everybody's faces. They all though of one word "Radu" and the silence was filled with unity and hate against one particular vampire. - Since I am head of this family and most of you are not in any of the clans... Those who did not swear the loyalty to the clans, stand up. Thirty demons stood up - far less than Anum expected. They were all of different ages, different talents and experiences, different types of lives. - I need all of you to find me a half-breed strong enough to kill that wretched girl... And make sure he or she is a loner and NOT a part of any large resistance group. Some demons looked at each other and then back at their father with uncertainty. - Father, the rebels are well hid and even if we know a half-breed strong enough to kill Lilian, there is no way that he'll work for demons. - What makes you so sure? Did you learn nothing from what I thought all of you? - Anum asked with a tone, that made everyone sit down and shut up. - Now, you WILL go and you WILL find a half-breed strong enough to kill her, but you will NOT make him kill her. I will send Seth with you. One demoness stood up - Father, I want to go with them too. I am bound with the Silver Moon only by the lessons, not by loyalty. Anum smiled. The girl was very talented in all types of magic except fire and she was perfect as Ger's student, because she was like him - she kept everything to herself. - Fine, Silvia, you can go with them, I see nothing that would stop me from allowing you to go. And Gregory, you will be the one to make sure Seth doesn't run away from you and back to me. If he does you know what punishment awaits you. - Anum said and stood up. Everyone stood up after him. - Seth will wait for you outside the northern gate of the castle by tomorrows nightfall. The family members all walked out, each bowing before Anum before reaching the door. ' Anum sighed as the last son went out and appeared next to the castle where Ger was waiting for him.
- I know what you want to do, friend, but I would not advise it... Your power did not go away with her taking the scythe, so there is nothing you should fear. She did nothing to you, so you shouldn't as well... - Ger started with a smile on his face. It seemed that his mood was up that night. - Are you going to search for another student, friend? - Anum asked, feeling that the white eyes were watching him from beneath the blindfold. - Oh, no, I am just excited of what is about to come... The half-breeds are more and more intriguing every day. I think they might make the clans acknowledge their existence and let them be... - You are not against them being a part of this world? - Anum asked and looked at his so called friend. No, this was someone that saw more than anyone else and after trying everything and surviving all of it, he decided he will watch, with no reason not to help one side or another. And now it seemed that he was ready to appear before the half-breeds. - Do you have someone in mind? I've been with you for a hundred years and I still can sense a vibe you make when you want to make your move. - Anum asked, knowing that Ger red his mind as clear as a book. - Yes, yes I do, friend. And I again will advice you not to try killing that girl. It might lead to a lot more trouble than you want to have. - I shall consider your advice and do what I think is right. - Anum answered, knowing that Ger was probably right, as always. - So, who do you have in mind? - Oh, I found this young one that's as strong as you. Maybe even stronger, I cannot sense his true power... - You seem like you know everything that is happening in this world, Ger, first son of Gaeia. - Anum said and saw his "friends" face making an even bigger smile. - And I already thought you wouldn't find out, friend! I'm very amused now, very very amused! - Ger half-laughed with a voice of a crow. - I will follow your advise to not kill that girl, friend. All in all, you mostly always were right. - That I was, that I am, that I will be - Ger smiled at his friend and took off his blindfold as the clouds covered the sky. - A storm is coming... A big one and I will make sure none is left out of it. - Ger laughed, turning into a large crow and flying off into the dark sky. - That demon is not a demon anymore. He's a silent watcher over the earth, a guardian of balance in this realm...With him around I start to doubt that we were really fallen and exiled and it wasn't the holy fathers plan...

Seyne
He was sore, and not just from whatever that was that Cain had done to him. It was another result of having been away so long: he'd forgotten how much Cain liked to order other people around. He resented it, but what could he do? -Seyne, you decide now. You're coming with us or with them? -Need you ask? Like hell he was going to let them massacre whoever they wanted. I chose what side I'm on a while ago. Mine. His wings spread, and ribbons of black smoke, pure darkness, began snaking around his hands and arms. This could be the first battle for him. Sure, he'd been in a fight or two, but a situation like this was something new.
The group headed east while the other two made a beeline south. They found another from White soon enough, dispatching him just as easily at the first. It seemed too easy, really. Did White Moon just make a point of sending the rubbish out scouting? Or were they missing something?
Zach; Michael
-Sir, I think we've lost Riley. -Why? Where was he?- Zach sat up, privately relieved that something had finally happened. -Here, sir.- he brought up the missing vampire's position on the GPS screen. -There was a sound like a gunshot and he just cut off. -Not responding... tell all scouts to be on guard. Locke, Halil, get out there and find him, fast.- The two disappeared into the abysm instantly. Zach stared at the map for a few moments. -Sir? -What is it? -Shouldn't we inform the demons..? Zach narrowed his eyes, even that making the younger vampire shrink back a little. -No. We don't even know what this is yet.- They were interrupted by a transmission from Halil. -Riley's been killed. No sign of anyone here. There was a brief silence. -Game on.- Zach murmured. -Sir, Palin's line is dead. -So get his location! Lezzata, join second squad and tell them I want this area surrounded.Tell them to stay in groups, at least three, and then close in. That's my orders. And yes, Lynch, we should now inform the demons.

Two vampires found the second body, reported it,got their orders and disappeared.Caleb merged with the shadows, appearing out of a wall. -We definitely got their attention. They're aiming to get all the groups together, but that's what we wanted,right?-Caleb reported. -Yup.Means they're not intercepting our contacts. Our primary targets are the demons. We need to cut off their access to any beasts they've got.-Cain said. "Obey me,listen to me,follow me,join me..." A whisper sounded in Cain's head."What the hell?" Cain thought, turning to where it seemed the whisper was coming from. -Heard something?-Ash asked. -Trish,Seyne.How are you two feeling? -As always.Something wrong?-Trish said. -No,nothing.-Cain answered. "I hope it's nothing.Otherwise..."Cain shook his head, throwing the thought away. -Okay...Scouts mean the main groups are close. We need to hurry up.-Caleb explained. -Right.-Cain said, turning slightly to a werewolf. A bunch of feathers fell,Cain sniffed the air, growled, jumped on the roof and started moving north.Everyone followed. The closer they got to the scent of the demons, the more Cain turned back to his normal form.Suddenly,he merged with the shadows and everyone else stopped. -Where is he?-Ash asked. Caleb shushed and pointed to where Cain was.Cain was half-emerged from a wall, his sword unsheathed.Just below him,on another building's roof stood a demon. The demon was trying to caress two wolves:one black, one white. The wolves seemed hostile towards the demon. -Please,relax.I'm a friend.-The demon said, showing his palms, telling he wasn't an enemy, but the wolves still seemed unconvinced. Another of his squad mates,a woman, came to him. -Don't expect them to just...-She didn't finish. Cain let go of his sword, impaling the male demon. The sword cut off half of his face. The woman didn't have time to react.Cain re-emerged right in front of her, grabbed her head and pushed her eye-balls deep into the skull with his fingers. She didn't even get a second to scream,as Cain cracked her spine. In one swirl,Cain grabbed his sword and while turning back towards the falling demoness, upper cut her in half.He then looked at the wolves, who to his surprise, lowered their heads.Everyone else landed on the roof. -Jesus,Cain...-Caleb muttered. Ash didn't seem all that effected. He actually chuckled slightly. -Just like old times, huh? Trish didn't say anything.Though she rarely saw Cain in action, she knew what he was capable off. What all of them were capable off.Cain sheathed the sword and ignoring everyone, walked to the wolves, knelt in front of them and patted their heads. -There's no good or bad in a war, there's only the victors, the defeated and those caught in between.-He said. It seemed like the last referred to the two wolves, who looked him straight in the eyes.Cain smiled. -These two are good hunters, but do they deserve to be mixed in all of this?-He then asked rhetorically.-Now,run away you two. Cain stood up,eyeing everyone and the two dead bodies. The two wolves walked to him,the white one standing to Cain's right, while the black one to his left. Ash grinned. -Seems like you made some friends. -Strange.-Caleb said.-These two aren't JUST wolves.Their lycans.Do you know, that once you earn their respect, they immediately recognize you as a friend, equal or even a master and they're loyal to the end.Even that little number the Bronze Moon has tamed are as strong as an unnatural, who trained for at least 5 years. -I heard something like. They're very sought after due to this loyalty and strength of theirs.-Trish said. Cain didn't say anything. He looked at the lycans."It's...an honour."The lycans seemed to understand, slightly tilting their heads up and down. -Shall we continue?-Cain asked. It seemed he suddenly became more in tune with everything. He heard the same whisper from before and this time it was the cause of a slight throbbing in the head."Join me,follow me,obey me...". -You bastards!-Someone shouted, turning the attention of the group. Two other bronze mooners and three White Moon's vampires stood in front of them. -This is just one of the two groups that are left.We missed the third scout.-Caleb said. -Was that in the file?-Ash asked. -Yup.-Cain answered. A girl caught his attention. The scythe she held in her hands,to be precise."F**K!" -Caleb,move Trish and Seyne to the others.NOW!-Cain commanded. -What?Why?-Caleb asked, trying to understand what's wrong. But it was too late.Trish screamed and jumped on Cain. Her eyes were filled with bloodlust. It was obvious the real Trish wasn't there any more.Cain pressed himself to her, holding her tightly. -I'm sorry,Trish.-He whispered. Trish disappeared.Cain merged her with the shadows. -What did you do?!-Ash exclaimed. He seemed as confused as Caleb. -It's the scythe. The scythe of the first vampire.-Cain explained. He closed his eyes, lowered his head and clenched his fists.Luckily for them all that Cain enchanted Seyne with the rune singes earlier, which stopped him from loosing his mind just yet,but it was physically evident, that the runes won't hold it off for long.Cain collected himself for the last few sentences. -Get him to where the contacts are. That's where Trish will be,too.Go.Now.-The last words came out very silent. Cain's fingers slowly wrapped around the sword's handle. He unsheathed the sword again, the tip of the heavy blade smacking on the ground, digging in. -You gave such a weapon to an obvious newborn.-He said, slowly walking towards the enemies, the blade cutting a straight line in the roof.-You turned the woman I love against me. The blackness in the sword's gem started to clear.A white dot shone from the inside of it,growing with every second. -You hunt my kind like we're animals.-Cain continued, the gem shining brighter and brighter.-You even employ artefacts, that by simple being can cause damage to innocents, destroying their lives and souls...I will not let such monsters exist! The sword went aflame,Cain lunged towards the enemy group. The lycans growled, following in his wake.Caleb didn't wait.He grabbed Seyne, who was obviously being effected by the scythe and merged with the shadows.Ash was utterly confused. The hostile group didn't seem any better. But then something else happened:the light from the sword grew,as did the flame.Soon, the blinding light enveloped them all.
Trish fell on the ground, but quickly gathered herself and jumped on her feet.A demon and a half-breed aimed sub-machine guns at her,but luckily Damien and Jack were already there. They calmed the other two,who lowered their guns. -What's going on?-Jack asked.-We hear only white noise through the coms'. -I-I don't know...-Trish answered, looking at the ground. She was trying to collect her thoughts and memories of the few last seconds.""Obey me"?Who was it?The girl...The scythe...THE SCYTHE?!Cain!" -Oh,c**p!We must get back to the others immediately! -What's going on?-Jack asked again. The half-breed stepped forward. -They have the scythe of the first, don't they? Were you the only vampire within your group? Caleb appeared, holding the struggling Seyne.Caleb let Seyne go,who stood there for a moment and seemed dazed. -He's the other one.-Trish said. -Good,you're all here.Uh,Trish, are you okay?-Caleb asked. -Am I okay?!What do YOU think?! Caleb sighed.Trish sighed too, sinking her hands in her hair, calming down. -Lets just gather ourselves for a second.I doubt Cain and Ash are still there. The fight would have taken off through the whole town by now.How are you,Seyne?-She asked with a caring tone.

Lilian
Lilian's body went numb. The lycan slowly stood up and growled into the darkness. - Lilian, we need your strength here. Your actions are reckless. We need you to be on our side. - she heard a voice from the darkness. - I don't want any of this... - she silently said and put her hand on the lycan, grabbing his fur to help her stand up. - The lycan will not listen to you, girl. He will eventually kill you. - As will you? I don't care about your clans and your wars and all this bulls**t... Look at what you do to people! - she started to shout. The lycan started to growl even more. - Those who became lycans were unstable at the start. There is nobody to blame in this situation. Lilian, please. We really need you. - the voice softened. A demon walked out of the shadows and Lilian couldn't help but give in to his charm. - I hate you... I hate you all... - she said and started walking towards the demon. The lycan looked at her walking away and after a while turned to the forests.
- Call them. - the demon said. Lilian frowned, but felt there is nothing she could do at that time. She felt so weak... - Fine... - she said and clenched the scythe with both of her hands. The scythe started vibrating and sending a message into any vampires head. - Why do you need this? - Don't worry, it's not a big deal, but we need every advantage. - I'll have to fight?... - Lilian asked rhetorically. The demon smiled. Soon a few vampires joined them and they all got ready for a fight. Lilian didn't. She looked down at the people she should attack and didn't want to be a part of any of it, but in her head there was a voice, the one that she admired so, the voice of the First that called to her and calmed her. "It's the right thing to do... It's the only way to run away..." she though and jumped down with everyone else. The girl screamed and jumped on a half-breed that seemed somehow familiar. His power. It was the same as the lycans, who at that moment already lunged for an attack. Lilian closed her eyes and started gathering the energy from the scythe. The lycans didn't attack her, what at that point was very calming "I really don't want to hurt anybody..." she thought and released. Everyone flew away from each other and there was only her and the half-breed left, facing each other and looking each other in the eyes. - I really don't want to do this... - she said silently when he jumped forth to her.
The metals touched, making a horribly loud sound. They were in the air, above the town even and the sore strength of the blows they hit each other with were making strong gushes of wind. They couldn't be seen, only the light line left by Cains flaming sword showed where they were at that moment. Suddenly they both stopped on a rooftop, their weapons pressing each other. Lilian's eyes filled with tears - I don't want to do this... - she silently said and lowered her weapon - do what you must, but I won't do this anymore... I don't know if my body will start to defend itself, but I won't do this anymore...

Even when the light was gone, the view was still blurry for Ash.Cain was nowhere in sight. All of the sudden,he remembered the enemy squad and didn't wait for anything.Luckily for him, they were not as fast to recover.Ash jumped on one of the demons, put his hand over the demon's mouth and pushed a continued wave of wind, blowing the enemy from the inside. The others quickly jumped on their feet, put were knocked down again by Ash's gusts of wind.He dispatched two more the same way as the first, when one of the two left vampires shot him.Ash fell on the ground,a hole in his right shoulder, bleeding. He held his knife in the left and while falling,he threw it at the one who shot him.The knife stuck in the attacker's right eye.The vampire screamed from pain, but in a second was caught with his comrade in a small, though strong whirlwind.Strong enough to tare their muscles apart. The bleeding, yet still alive,flesh-bags fell off the roof onto the cold pavement in a dark alley.Ash got himself up,groaning from pain and walked to the edge of the roof.He looked the alley back and forth, making sure there weren't any witnesses and landed on one of the enemy's head. The body convulsed one last time. The same happened to the other one.Ash then jumped back on the rooftop and once again looked around."Hope he's not dead...Wait.There was a girl...Seems to be gone,too...".Suddenly,something caught his eye. There were flashes in the sky, that looked like flames. The cause of it wasn't visible, though. Then it hit him.”Holy s**t balls on fire! It's him and the girl.”Ash kept catching on to the flames in the sky up until they stopped. It took him awhile to find where they were.
Cain didn't want to hurt the girl, but if that was what needed to be done to get rid of the scythe,he wasn't going to let that stop him. They now were atop a roof of a ten-story building. The girl spoke: - I don't want to do this... - she silently said and lowered her weapon - do what you must, but I won't do this anymore... I don't know if my body will start to defend itself, but I won't do this anymore... The sword's flames extinguished.Cain turned the blade sideways, the flat side of it touching the girls chin. -Then the only way you can keep breathing is by handing me that damn scythe.-Cain said coldly. -We don't approve that.-A familiar voice sounded. Suddenly, they were in an area as white as a sheet of paper.Cain smirked and started walking backwards, but he kept carefully turning the sword's tip at the girl, trying not to make a cut. When he stopped, the sharp tip was only millimetres away from piercing the girl's throat. -Well hello there, blue piss fountain. -I still don't appreciate you referring to me like that,half-breed. -And I still don't care.Anyway, want to explain the inappropriate timing? Though it was impossible to see,you could feel the irritation radiating from the swirling, shining entity. -There are rules that govern every ecosystem. The strong feed on the weak or protect them. All the same, they're still a resource. But you see,who are the weak and who are the strong is the only relative variable unit. And it is decided by certain...items.Something,that has power.Something, like your sword or her scythe.Since you are the ones wielding these weapons, you are those items of power and your decisions govern the fate of the strong and weak. -Would you get to the point already?-Cain asked irritated. The entity let out a sound similar to a sigh. -Such immodesty...The artefacts kept on existing, while their wielders did not. Many would like that to continue. It adds a certain...dramatic twist to the play. -See,this is where you didn't catch me last time:I don't give a s**t about what you want. -Oh,youngling,but you should.-With those words sudden pain grabbed Cain's heart.-We wouldn't want anything to happen to that temporary weakened heart of yours, now would we? Cain could barely keep himself up,so he had to help himself by using the sword for support. -I'm...going to...f**king off you,piss...fountain.-Cain pushed the words out. -Now,on to who dies and who doesn't.We would like to... Cain's sword went aflame again, his wings and horns grew twice their normal size.In a blink of an eye he was in front of the entity and the blade cut it in half.A laughter echoed as the entity disappeared. -Feisty one, aren't you? It's harder then THAT,if you want to destroy pure energy, wielder. But enough.None of you two die by one another hands tonight. The surroundings quickly changed to the ones in Arakesh.Cain's heart was beating normally again. The girl was gone. -Oh,this is bulls**t.-Cain quietly muttered to himself. -Cain?There you are.I could have sworn I saw you just before landing here. Then you and that girl just up and disappeared? What happened?-Ash ran up to Cain from behind. -”All the world's a stage and all the people merely players.”-Cain answered. -Uh,Shakespeare?You're alright?Where's the girl? -It's irrelevant now.Lets go to the others.
-There's more,Trish.-Caleb said.-Cain invoked the power of the sword. -What does that mean?-Trish asked irritated. -That means,if we trust the prophesies, something big will come down on Cain.It says, that the wielder is subjected to a test.To pass it,Cain must make a sacrifice. -Sometime it's translated as “the final sacrifice”.-Jack added. -Yes.But if he fails, his soul is cast down to Hell, destroyed or something along those lines. -What the f**k?So whatever happens,he DIES?! -IF we believe the prophesies.-Caleb repeated.-But the sword exists,so... -Why are you even telling me this?-Trish sounded desperate,as if looking for a solution to a situation she didn't comprehend. -I just want you to be ready for whatever comes our way.-Caleb said as compassionately as he could. -I'm sorry, but we must move towards the boat.-One of the contacts, the half-breed,said. Trish nodded. -You go.I'll wait here for Cain and Ash.-She said silently.
Cain and Ash appeared in the hangar. It seemed empty at first, but soon Cain noticed Trish, quietly sitting on a barrel, smocking. He walked to her. -Hey.-He muttered when the distance wasn't even as far as a step. Trish jumped, her gun was aimed into Cain's jaw. -Why shouldn't I shoot you now?Would save us the torture of waiting for whenever the s**t hits the fan.-She said, her eyes getting slightly teary. -What are you talking about?-Cain asked coldly. Trish sighed and holstered her gun, then looked Cain straight in the eyes. -Don't play coy.You know what I mean. The sword, invoking it's powers, all the test bulls**t in the prophesies. How long did you think to stay quiet about that? -I didn't believe them in the first place. -How can you remain so ignorant, when even a possibility of such a thing happening can scare the crap out of other people? -Well,we're not “other people”.Listen, just relax.Don't give something that is someone's hallucination that much thought.Everything is gonna be alright,I promise. -Christ,you're unbearable.-Trish said, shacking her head.-We'll...Just have to see, won't we?The others already went to the boat.
-Why didn't you use the abysm or shadow walking?-Ash asked, when all three of them where already in the boat with the others. -Because none of us can walk through the abysm and shadow walking can be followed.-The demon contact explained. -Oh,yeah,right.Forgot 'bout that.-Ash said. -We'll use shadow walking later.Half-way through we'll just blow the boat up.-Jack explained. -THAT'S your plan?-Ash asked, chuckling slightly. -Something wrong?-Jack answered with another question. -No,no.It's just funny how people like fireworks.-Ash said.-Anyway,what's with the box? -Confidential.-The demon contact answered. -Right...Well,I guess we can relax a bit and enjoy the cruse back.
An hour passed. The fishing boat was already rigged with explosives. All of them gathered in two circles.Jack pushed the red button on the trigger and everyone disappeared, the boat engulfed in flames. They appeared in Amelia's office. -Here's your damn box and your damn people.-Cain said and walked out. -Yeaaah...What he said.-Ash remarked and followed Cain and Trish. -I'm going to get some rest,Amelia.-Caleb said and left the office too.
